චිත්‍රපටයේ කතාව දිවයන්නේ තමන්ගේ විවාහ ජීවිතය පිළිබඳව කලකිරීමෙන් සිටින චන්ද්‍රා නමැති ගෘහණියක් වටායි. චිත්‍රපටය ආරම්භ වෙන්නේ චන්ද්‍රා සහ තවත් කාන්තාවක් අතර සිදුවෙන දුරකථන සංවාදයක් සමගයි. මෙයින් පසුව නිවස කරා පැමිණෙන ඇගේ සැමියා සමග කිසියම් කතාබහක් ඇති කර ගන්නා චන්ද්‍රා පසුව එය විශාල ආරවුලක් බවට පත් කරගන්නවා. සිය විවාහ ජීවිතයේ ඇති ප්‍රශ්න සහ ඇයට මුහුණ දීමට සිදුවෙන දුක් ගැහැට පිළිබඳව මෙන්ම විවාහ ජීවිතයක් ගත කරන සෑම කෙනෙකුටම පොදුවුණු කරුණු කාරනා ගැන මෙයින් ඉදිරිපත් කර පෙන්වනවා.
